We're actively reaching out to those hardest hit.

After the Storm and our community partners are part of an expansive cleanup effort in Southeast Michigan after a so-called 100-year storm in late June of 2021. Our efforts have been focused on finding those households hardest hit, and those who need the hands-on specialized approach of one-on-one case management. These are often households with seniors and children, low-income families and neighborhoods, and other vulnerable populations. Using local social work interns though Wayne State School of Social Work school, we are conducting extensive outreach to discover the greatest needs and then pairing families with our case managers for individualized care. We have partnered with the DTE Foundation to replace failed furnaces in flooded basements and have secured an additional $800,000 from The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) for the unmet needs of individual households.
