When disaster struck this northern town of 3,600 people, federal disaster recovery dollars were denied because the damage wasn’t extensive enough. But those affected were affected hard. Businesses and homes were destroyed and lives were lost or changed forever. To help families recover, the Otsego Community Foundation and the community raised $1.9 million for recovery. After the Storm, was able to hire and train case workers who helped over 100 families achieve their goals for recovery. Children were reunited with parents. Families adjusted to new realities with life-altering injuries. Thirty-eight homes were rebuilt and repaired.
